Day 8 – Rifugio Elissabetta to Les Chappelles

Ascent 400 Descent 1000m Highest 2500

After Elissabetta, there was a walk up the valley over the Col de la Seigne, which makes the border between Italy and France. Fortifications told of more troubled times.

A long walk down largely by road took us to Les Chapieux and our accomdation at the Auberge de Nova.

En route, TF discovered a secret language called Havana. This language is only used by people of Asian descent traveling in the high alps country between Italy and France. TF intends to bring it to the attention of linguistic scholars at SCU.

Bad weather set in soon after our arrival – but that didn’t disuade JK in her quest to find a set of Pétanque balls.

“For your main meal tonight…”

Dinner of beef cheek was generally appreciated, but not as much by our master chef judges as by BB
